Oakville approves 10-year ec dev strategy

We’re thrilled for our clients in Oakville, Ontario!

After many months of hard work, research and community consultation, Oakville’s Department of Economic Development celebrated the endorsement of the Town’s 10-Year Economic Development Strategy. From the Oakville Beaver newspaper:

 Focused around three goals aimed at promoting and retaining business, the passing of the strategy at Monday night’s Planning and Development Council meeting, drew great applause from council and onlookers with some calling it a near historic occasion.

“For the first time we have a really comprehensive and well-positioned strategy for the economic future of this municipality,” said Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll.

Oakville Chamber of Commerce Chair Aby Alameddine also pointed out that while announcing an economic development strategy is one thing, seeing it through is something completely different.

“Execution not only on the part of the Economic Development Department, but involving all members of Town Council and staff will be the critical factor. We must all be engaged. Oakville is not unique in wanting to attract the businesses described in this plan. Other communities in Ontario and in the northeastern United States are aggressively courting them,” said Alameddine.
